m eigentlichen Spritzvorgang wird der zähflüssige Kunststoff in die Hohlräume eine Werkzeugs gespritzt, das aus zwei Hälften besteht, die durch einen Stempel zusammengedrückt werden. Füllt der Kunststoff die Leerräume des Werkzeugs vollständig aus, fahren die Werkzeughälften auseinander.
Auswerfer schieben den Behälter aus dem Werkzeug, der dann von einem Roboter übernommen wird. Daraufhin wiederholt sich der gesamte Vorgang. Die maximale Menge an Behältern, die innerhalb einer Stunde auf diese Weise produziert werden kann, wird als Schusszahl bezeichnet. Sie kennzeichnet die Wirtschaftlichkeit eines Werkzeugs.
