"Neue Erfolgsbeispiele hingegen finden sich wenige. Eher ist die Konsolidierung positiver Trends als Erfolg zu verbuchen, nicht zuletzt in einigen Ländern Afrikas."

What I did so far:

"New examples of success, on the other hand, are few and far between. Rather, the consolidation of positive trends – not least in several African countries – must be considered success."

Zu verbuchen is causing me difficulty. It seems to be a banking term, but I don't know what it should mean in this context.

I suppose overall what they are saying is something along the lines of that new successes are hard to come by, so they must make do with/be content with past successes continuing. Redefine success, perhaps. Or have a more modest definition of success (as new success is so hard to come by). Or "live" off the credit of past successes. I am just brainstorming here.

I would be grateful for any ideas.
