German term or phrase: Cave Gryppen
Under the family crest of the German family of Krupp. They were the arms industrialist family during WWII all the way back to 1587. There crest or shield was as follows: the top left corner was a black and white checkerboard. The top right corner was a two headed gold colored eagle with a blue background and the lower half of the symbol was a white background with a red winged dragon then under that is written CAVE GRYPPEN I need to know what that phrase means in English.

English translation:Beware of the ... (Krupp clan)
Explanation:
Gryppen. I seriously doubt that this is a "Y", it's a "U" since the Latin alphabet didn't contain this letter. The upsilon is a Greek invention.

Besides: Krupp - Grupp(en) makes sense, right?

This is some kind of a forum on genealogy, so not really very reliable, but based on your description of the figure, it is a griffin, so it could be possible. Anyway, the site is:

If you can help, do you know where i can get that "cave gryppen" symbol of the red gryphon on the spine of the book, without the sleeve, the black spine?
