Savoy and apple are actually a classic--and with good produce (and some onions, carrots & caraway tossed in) very yummy.

sure. But asker is not writing the menu but I suppose translating the menu, and I have never heard of or seen a translator who does not at times hit a wrong key. Though I stand to be corrected. Be this as it may: asker has not made much of an input so we are simply guessing, you, me and Bobby McGee.

nothing against the Polish language but many Poles cannot pronounce an Ü and it sounds like an i. could happen to others, too. Würz Salat according to asker's spelling makes no sense whatsoever. And yes, askers, peers or whoever on this site can indeed hit a wrong key, nobody is perfect.

My favourite with "Wirsing" is taking single leaves, blanching them, putting a thin layer of spinach leaves on them and then placing pieces of buttered cod wrapped in thin slices of smoked salmon and Serrano ham on them.

Season with crushed black and pink peppercorns. Roll them up like a "Kohlroulade". Pack them tightly in a buttered casserole in a slow oven (150°) for about 45 minutes with the open sides of the roll down so you won't need skewers, cocktail sticks or twine to stop them unrolling.

Serve with a creme fraiche sauce with horseradish and chives or a light cheese sauce with shrimps.

Unless Würz is being used for a particularly leaf salad (e.g. rocket/Rucola) to distinguish it from Würzig. Stlll orthographically incorrect, but plausible.

I don't know how your pronunciation is, but for me there's a long way between Ü and I.
Look in the mirror and say them - it's a kiss and a smile - probably much more closely related than the letters :-)

Either way we are dealing with an orthographic mistake since it´s also "Würz Salat" and not "Würzsalat" :))

If it is a typo then probably not caused by hitting the wrong key on the keyboard but because the author thought it was the correct spelling. After all "Wirzsalat" and "Würzsalat" are homophones (at least for me and, I believe, most southern Germans) which makes it easy to get them mixed up.

That's true, but «Würz Salat» is simply not correct German, so we have to keep guessing or – what I would do - ask the client.

I would be prepared to consider a spelling mistake if the the Ü and the I were much closer together on the keyboard. Before you look to make sure, they are separated by O and P. Try typing würz and wirz quickly - it’s almost impossible to get what you want wrong.

This is more or less what I got when I ordered what I think a Würzsalat is in a restaurant in Berlin (only it had six different kinds of tomatoes in it and was also dressed with balsamic vinegar, walnuts and roasted pine kernels.

Have you ever tried savoys in a salad, diced, in slices, cooked or raw, you won’t want to eat one more than once. It’s a different matter with white or red cabbage. There’s even a trend towards making salads with raw curly kale/Grünkohl.

BTW: Pakoras made with Wirsing/savoy or kale/Grünkohl are delicious.
Just cut the leaves (savoy) into bite-size pieces (cut out the stalk) or pluck them (kale), dip them in spiced batter (gram flour, if you can get it) and deep fry - Leckerst!

There are plenty of references to Asiatic leaf salads, herb salads, the use of herbs in salads, growing Würzsalat (various plants), which herbs go together, recipes. And warnings about poisonous plants in Rucola/rocket salad sold in supermarkets.
