Wildbret ist ja nur der Name für Wildfleisch (wie Hirsch, Hase, etc)
dann Hirsch mit mit Pfferkuchenbrühe = deer with gingerbread sauce
(da würde ich sauce nehmen anstatt clear soup für Brühe)
Die Herrschaften haben sich's aber gut gehen lassen damals!;-)

agree  Cetacea: Diana is right, of course: There is a difference between hare and rabbit. It is often disregarded in recipes, but in this case, it's most likely to be hare rather than rabbit.

disagree  Cetacea: "Wildbret" = venison. Has absolutely nothing to do with "Brät"!//Wrong again: venison (= "Wildbret") is strictly dead meat, game (in this context) only refers to living animals considered fit for hunting.
