Taking a broad interpretation of "what is left at the end":

After the process of trimming excessive detail from voluminous documentation is completed, what remains at the end would be the abridged version, the concise documentation, the compendium. I.e. the very thing that has been accepted as the answer (conceptually) to the posted question would be the same thing remaining after the aforementioned process.

I wouldn't say "what is left at the end" is the appropriate translation for the original question, but it's not completely unconnected.

As I note, German "Rumpf" and English "rump" appear to be related. Though not quite synonyms.

Here's a good example:

You may have to ask (if you haven't already); I think what they want to say is that the document(s) can be rather short but need to be detailled enough to allow you to operate the system without additional guidance (and without messing up).
