handshaking Explanation: I know, this gets a bit away from the German, but the tone of your context tells me that this is going on more often than just calling a subroutine or two. It sounds like there is constant (well, almost constant) communication between the two devices. This may be a heartbeat signal that says "Are you alive?" with the corresponding response (or not!) with a watchdog timer on the user end to alert him to a failure. My shot from the USA. |
