Very sure, provided you´re talking about a Windows application, in which case use Microsoft's term "ScreenTip" (no space):

agree  Friderike Butler: Exactly...if the "Hinweistext" in this case refers to information about functionality/ use of the item that is touched.

neutral  Nick Somers (X): Read on: the text goes on to talk about "tool tips" (which serve the same function as screen tips). I think they want a more general word.

  -> Fair point, but I still think "screen tip" is a good description. Microsoft does actually make a clear distinction between ToolTips and ScreenTips, what is described here sounds more like ScreenTips to me. Possible misuse of ToolTips in the source text?
