Yes, there is too little context to be sure. I'd also prefer "inventory volume" to "stock volume", but there might be an even more appropriate term depending on which specific metric this refers to.

I'm not trying to say you can't use it (volume-based is an option in certain contexts). Just saying that we basically never used volume where I worked.

And I really wouldn't use stock volume, since it's typically associated with something else:

We're probably talking about inventory turnover, but there's way too little context to answer this.
