Земляная белка (Xerus inauris) — грызун рода африканских сусликобелок. Он обитает в Южной Африке в неглубоких норах. Мех у земляных белок редкий и жёсткий, без подшёрстка. Длина тела 22-26 см. Длина хвоста 20-25 см. Сожительствует с сурикатами. Земляных белок держат как домашних животных.

Если писать без латинского названия, то южноафриканская земляная белка будет звучать точнее.
