BAC série Littéraire option LV3 ITALIEN BAC is an abbreviation for Baccalauréat which is the diploma french students gets once they finish Lycée (High School) and pass the final exam. You have different bac diplomas, three generals and then a lot of "pro" (professional). The three generals are : - Littéraire which focuses on languages and history - Scientifique which focuses on math and sciences - Economique et Social which is a mix of both with more economics. LV means "langue vivante" which is language class. In France you have two compulsory language classes during your High School years. Option LV3 means that the person concerned chose to take a third language class which is in this case Italian. In "general bac" you always have a specialization which is not mention here. It's kinda weird because the specialization is far more important than the optional classes (Italian or else) and is worth a lot more points on your final exam. You basically can't translate it without explaining at least a little bit of how the French school system works. You could say "French High School Diploma, Literary Branch with Italian as a fourth language (French being the first, then generally English as the second, Spanish/German or another as third and then Italian) OR with optional Italian" |
