Infatti nei dizionari compare con la traduzione "rigattiere".
Il campo semantico quindi mi pare abbastanza vicino a "collectionneur" che compare prima...

La traduzione del termine in sé è un po' più complicata e sarebbe necessario capire come hai tradotto il resto della frase o se c'è del contesto che spieghi.
