ses phalanges toupillent (Satzverständnis)

French term or phrase: ses phalanges toupillent (Satzverständnis)

Ein junger Mann wird zu dem Überfall befragt, der auf ihn verübt wurde. Irgendwann heißt es:

"Ses phalanges toupillent comme Madelon et Gnafron, histoire de montrer que lui en demander
davantage serait une guignolade."

Irgendwie weiß ich nicht so recht, was ich mir unter dem "toupillent" im Zusammenhang mit den "phalanges" vorstellen soll. Vielleicht schlottert er oder es schlottern ihm die Knie? Wie aber bringe ich das am elegantesten mit dem Rest des Satzes zusammen, ohne dass es grotesk klingt oder ich allzu viel hinzudichten muss?
