Pour les Lumières, l’individualisme s’érige en rempart contre l’asservissement dans lequel les hommes se trouveraient constamment tenus du fait d’une dépendance irraisonnée, quasi ontologique, à la tradition.

L’idée d’une ***auto-institution de toute chose***, d’un pouvoir législateur suprême de la volonté individuelle s’impose alors partout comme seul recours possible.

L’affirmation d’un individualisme radical, d’une liberté auto-fondatrice et toute-puissante, devient le trait majeur des sociétés modernes et aujourd’hui post-modernes.

Den zweiten Satz verstehe ich nicht wirklich. Daher mal "proforma" so übersetzt:

Für die Aufklärung war der Individualismus ein Bollwerk gegen die Unterjochung, in der die Menschen auf Dauer in einer irrationalen, gleichsam ontologischen Abhängigkeit in der Tradition gefangen geblieben wären.

Von daher drängt sich überall die ***Idee einer Selbstbegründung*** von allem und jedem, einer höchsten gesetzgeberischen Gewalt des individuellen Willens als einzig möglicher Ausweg auf.

Die Bekräftigung eines radikalen Individualismus, einer selbstbegründeten und allmächtigen Freiheit wird der Grundzug der modernen und ((heute)) postmodernen Gesellschaften.
