Complete context:

I think this means fishing with a teaser float - but I can hardly put 'float teasers', can I! Or maybe it's just another way of saying fishing enthusiasts. Any ideas? (Target readership: UK) Thanks in advance.

"Taquiner le bouchon" is a colloquial and rather humorous expression, which of course has to do with fishing - but not as a sportsman. It's what you do after a good lunch, when the weather is hot: you sit, or lie down, in the shadow, under a tree, near something like a pond, or a small stream, leaving the float peacefully floating along the current (if any). It's some kind of "passe temps", and has not much to do with "fishing enthusiasts" who take it much more seriously ! To my knowledge, it has nothing to do either with any particular fishing technique
I suggest "compleat angler" (a bit surprised no one mentioned this word, "angler", before: it is the exact translation for "pêcheur à la ligne", which is what we have to deal with here), after Izaak Walton's literary work ("a celebration of the art and spirit of fishing in prose and verse").

Explanation:
Although 'taquineurs de bouchon" does convey the general sense of fishing enthusiast, it also refers to a specific fishing technique. So I would recommend

"Anglers, fishing enthusiasts, float, fly or casting"

Using 'anglers' also avoids the 'fish lover' problem.

I don't know if the auteur intended some kind of pun, but apparently, the expression is "taquiner le goujon" (cf. free online edition of Trésor de la Langue française : Taquiner le goujon. Pêcher à la ligne.)

And "goujon" is a kind of small fish.

So, a "taquineur de goujons" is indeed someone who likes fishing, but in that case I think an "amateur de poisson" is rather someone who loves fish, i.e. enjoys eating it.
