I think the UK FRS should be a reliable source, so perhaps you'd like to argue the question of ambiguity with them. However, as "marshalling yards" have been used on the railways since the 19th century and nobody seems to confuse them with US marshalls (even in the US, nobody went looking for Wyatt Earp in the marshalling yard), it seems perfectly reasonable usage to me.
"Mustering area" might seem like a nice idea, but it's for people. More specifically, mustering is assembling troops to prepare to go into battle.
