Just looked up "Lease-Purchase". It seems to be American. In England and Wales, people purchase a lease on a property and are then considered its owners, even if in a less secure position than if they had purchased the freehold. A lease on residential property might be as long as 999 years and the ground rent can be anything from really exhorbitant to a peppercorn. So, it depends what country your translation is for. It is a pity that KudoZ doesn't provide a box for Askers to give that information, particularly on legal questions. |
