From a text on divine knowledge in medieval Muslim philopsophy:
Pour Al-Ghazali., cette conception d’Avicenne apparaît comme une doctrine des « états » (aḥwāl, que j’avais noté à l’instant), et sa justification repose sur une certaine compréhension du rapport entre science et relation, c’est-à-dire, donc, appliquée à la science, sur une doctrine de la relation (iḍāfa). Je m’explique. Une doctrine des états, d’abord. Il faut bien le dire (et il suffit de le dire pour entrevoir à quelle histoire cela nous raccroche). C’est le terme ḥāl, en effet, qui paraît à tous les étages de la structure triadique dont j’ai parlé.
Explanation: "nous" is not necessarily to be translated in a presentation of this kind. It does not refer to any collective subject within the narrative but is a mere "artifice de langage", common in ex cathedra lectures given in French and denoting "me the speaker together with you the audience".
It abounds in Deleuze's lectures and seminar proceedings, for instance (often under the guise of "on").
The fragments from this paper we are being submitted indicate the script of an oral presentation (ungrammatical sentences, disrupted and/or irregular punctuation, etc.) which supports this reading of "nous".
