Other / French Canadian video about decorating a room
French term or phrase: à raser/rasée
Transcript of Canadian French interior decorating video.
In this part, they are talking about lighting.
Donc, on veut éclairer de façon à raser un mur, à raser la lumière de plafond également pour mettre en valeur un plafond.
Est-ce qu’on veut illuminer le plafond, éclairer le mur de façon rasée?

For the first part (à raser), my attempt is "to brush" as in brush up against or skim, if that is indeed correct, but I'm not sure it would work for the second one (de façon rasée) "brushed"?

Thank you in advance.

skim

Explanation:
"Skim lighting is the art of sending light rays at a shallow angle across the illuminated surface. This throws any surface irregularities into high relief, thus emphasising texture."

The French is very repetitive, with raser, mur, plafond, éclairer/illuminer all appearing more than once. That's how people talk, but my translation would be much shorter.

-> Thanks. And you're right that we've had "rasant" before: previous answers have included "raking" and "grazing".

So to avoid being becalmed, they will have to skim the storm zones in formation, but without entering these zones completely.

Pour garder de l'air, il faut donc essayer de raser les orages en formation mais sans y entrer complètement.
