French to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Other / in a contract
French term or phrase:mariée
This is in a contract which describes an hotel-réz-de-chausée, sous-sol 1 & 2, 1er étage, etc and there is a list-first 'total surface area', then, 'cuisine, salle polyvalente, toilettes, couloir, rampe, mariée'. I cannot find anything so maybe it is a typo, but what would it be? Any help appreciated, thanks.
The problem is that there is already a room for receptions (for celebrations specifically), so this is connected with the bride probably. Nikki, the country is Algeria, Kouba, province of Algiers. @ Nathalie, would you put it as answer please? Thank you all

I think Nathalie has got it bang on... the room is big enough to be able to be called a 'bride's bedroom', though I'm a bit worried about that actual term, which looks in itself like a dodgy translation.
That is what I thought too; it can't even be 'chambre de maitre' since it is so small. Maybe others will come up with something else too. Some typos-plenty-are evident, but not this @ Nathalie, the room is very small though as Tony pointed out
I don't think 'bridal suite' would really do it here; to start with, that is usually a special suite of rooms in an hotel where the newly-weds can spenc their wedding night, so it would ba conbfusing to use the same term here. Also, 'suite' usually implies more than one room — e.g. in an hotel, typically a sitting room and a bedroom; whereas this ios clearly a single room. Finally, 14 m² is pretty small, just an ordinary bedroom such as you might have in a house, so hardly merits the rather grand title of 'suite'. To convey the culturally unfamiliar (to us!) nature of this room, you might use an unusual word, such as, for example 'bride's parlour' or '...drawing-room' — though it would be better if you could find out what it is actually used for; it might, for example, be some kind of dressing or changing room, maybe a 'boudoir'?
That's a good start, then! It's always important to consider WHERE a document is from, as it may well be subject to different religious / cultural customs.
Thank you for your suggestion though. In another part of the document, there is a male pool and another female pool, so it may be country-specific. I hadn't considered that for this though and still cannot find any hotels with a'bride's room'
I don't know anything about marriage customes in Algeria, but I wonder then if this is simply some kind of 'retiring room' for the bride? I think you'd better ask some of our Algerian colleagues for advice on this one!

First of all, considering the possibility of a typo of some kind, what sort of document is this? Handwritten? Might it at some point have been scanned using OCR? I half suspect a possible 'scanno' (OCR error)... Do you have the actual surface areas for each area? If so, the size of this 'bride' (?!) might give some kind of a clue. Also, do you know what country this is from? It is possible it might be in some way country specific.
