Fashion stylist/pattern maker OR patern designer/maker Explanation: Fashion stylist for modéliste, and pattern maker for patronnier. Ref. Termium (CD) pattern designer is also possible for modéliste (Termium, too) Hope this helps. Best wishes, Val. |

Dress designer and pattern maker Explanation: Modelist would be dress designer or fashion stylist or even model maker. Patronnier however, would be patternmaker as in a "dessinateur de patron". Jugé par ce que je comprends, il y a donc une différence entre les deux puisque l'un est le créateur du vêtement et l'autre le dessinateur du patron. Bonne chance!! Catherine |

fashion designer and patternmaker Explanation: I live in the garment district in New York and around here people say designer (modeliste) for the person that draws or sketches the clothes while the patternmaker (patronier) creates the pattern from which the designer's drawing can be cut from cloth and sewn. Designers are known to the public and patternmakers are not, usually. |
