micro-casque d'ordre et d'ecoute headset with incorporated microphone or just headset Explanation: It's a bit difficult to be 100% certain without some more info, but from past experience, this is going to be something like a Sennheiser HME 26-II. Basically you have a professional studio headphone with an integrated microphone. As there is a microphone integrated, it's a headset and not just a headphone. Whether you explicitly mention the headphone is your choice - a pro audience should know that a headset has a microphone. micro-casque d'ordre et d'ecoute headset with mic for talkback and foldback Explanation: I am of course assuming that 'micro-casque' does indeed mean 'a headset with microphone attached' (as is usual for this kind of application. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 13 minutes (2014-07-24 10:39:52 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- In TV production and the like, 'ordre' means that the person can receive 'orders' from the technical control room — and/or perhaps to a lesser extent give them too. The traditional technical term for this is the slightly less peremptory 'talkback'. 'écoute' refers to the fact that the person can hear programme audio — in the old days, on TV studio cameras, one heard programme audio in one ear and gallery talkback in the other; it was frightfully schizophrenic! This may of course be programme audio just so that the person can follow what is going on, or it might be specifically a return feed of their own voice, say — very common for singers in a music recording context. Either way, wherever it comes from, the audio that is sent back to the headset is referred to as 'foldback' (unless some more detailed description of the feed is specified). -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 21 minutes (2014-07-24 10:48:11 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- As Duncan says, most people would take the 'with mic' for granted; however, in something like a set of specifications, it's perhaps as well to spell everything out so as to avoid any possibility of misunderstanding. |
