This is a confusing sentence in a contract for outsourcing of processing non-woven fabrics between two companies (folding, rolling and cutting, etc.). The full sentence is:

[Company 1 - the subcontractor processing the materials] transformera uniquement le non-tissé livré par [Company 2 - the manufacturer] et tiendra les enregistrements de production nécessaires pour lui permettre de **remonter aux raisons des incidents relevés éventuellement sur sa prestation**, et pour remonter également aux bobines mères.

I have been over and over this whole sentence and am really struggling to get it to make sense - I think I'm either missing something or I've spent too much time wrestling with it and am now bogged down in misleading translations! Suggestions gratefully received - thank you!

Thanks for this. It makes sense along with the second part of the sentence. I did use "potential" instead of "eventually" in the end although your reasoning behind the translation of "eventuellement" as "eventually" is logical and I agree. However, the proofreading for this agency is very tight and they hate 'faux amis'!

neutral  John Detre: I don't think "éventuellement" means "eventually" // but in the expression "des incidents relevés éventuellement" doesn't it just mean problems that may possibly be noted, i.e. "any problems"?

  -> In general indeed it does not mean eventually, but possibly (Oxford Dict). But the whole idea of a tracing process is to narrow down "possibility" and thus in many (not all) cases the the term can be translated as per the above. Thanks a lot though.
