construction of a tied-back concrete ring around the vault Explanation: Not sure if this "ceinture" is like a wall (below ground level) or simple a "curb" at the ground level. "Ancrée" suggests it is a wall, or at least a structure of substantial depth that has to be tied back to the surrounding ground (with steel bars through the wall that extend a sufficient distance into the surrounding ground to prevent the thing caving in (presumably not so far as to penetrated into surrounding tombs, French graveyards being very close-packed as a rule!) |
