Tests monadiques

From a document detailing the process of consumer testing for food products.

agree  philgoddard: Yes, and I would ignore "noté isolément", which means the same thing. You could say "evaluated in isolation by each consumer on the panel".

agree  Victoria Britten: Not sure I agree with philgoddard: I think "noté isolément" probably (if clumsily) emphasises the fact that each jury member gives their own mark.

agree  polyglot45: or you could say "individually" and save "in isolation" for afterwards

chaque produit est évalué dans l’absolu
each product is evaluated on its own

Explanation:
i.e. "in isolation" from other products that could be used as a reference for comparison i.e. while preventing the impression given by another product from influencing the tester;

IOW testers are only asked "what do you think of A (or B, or C), not "test A and B (or A and C ...)

the following part:

"noté isolément par chaque consommateur du jury "

is about a different aspect: its aim is to prevent the tester from being influenced by opinions given by other testers

Monadic Research Design

Monadic testing typically is the best method for product testing or product optimization. Testing a product alone offers many advantages. Interaction between products (which occurs in paired-comparison tests) is eliminated.
