Geothermal heat pumps (except direct expansion) Explanation: I just translated a document on geothermal heat pumps and had to look it up myself. It corresponds to direct expansion or direct exchange heat pumps (both abbreviated as DX, more g-hits for the first but both are used). In French they also talk about "détente directe" http://www.therminove.com/geothermie-limoges and http://www.encyclo-ecolo.com/Géothermie#Sol-sol. It's an older method that some installers no longer use.
