Tech/Engineering - Electronics / Elect Eng / Power electronics patent
French term or phrase: capacités Cbus
Hi all,

This is from a patent in the field of power electronics. The patent is for 'des bobinages couplés utilisés par exemple dans une inductance d'interphase ou un transformateur'

It says:

Cbus capacitors?

TIA :)

Cbus capacitances
Explanation:
Again, it's this problem between -ance and -or; in FR, an actual capacitor (= component) is often referred to as a 'condensateur' or a 'capacitance'; when you find 'capacité', it is more often than not (IF being used accurately!) referring to the physical phenomenon of 'capacitance'.

In this sort of situation, this is likely to be distributed stray capacitance — here, apparently, associated with a 'bus' of some kind; you ought to find that this will be shown on the diagram as C (= the capacitance) subscript 'bus' (identifying which particualr C it is)

Note that 'capacitance' can be countable, as here, without its necessarily being an actual individual physical component.
