French term or phrase: dérives de consommation
Hi,
I'm translating a document about energy management software. One of the benefits of this software is:
I'm not sure how to interpret "dérives". At first I thought it was sources of consumption but then I started thinking it could be changes in/ shifts in.
Any ideas?
In an attempt to give a bit more context:

disagree  Tony M: I have to disagree, because 'dérive' isn't necessarily an excess; of course, those may well be the 'dérives' about which they are most concerned! But it really means anything that messes up their average predictions...i

agree  chris collister: Probably, but a "change" in consumption isn't necessarily an (unexpected) anomaly, eg during the interval of a World Cup final.

-> Ha, ha, you are absolutely right. But no humour these days as far as energy is concerned!

agree  Tony M: Yes, I think this fits 'drifting away from the norm' very well
