Nearly right, but I think I see what they're getting at here.

The pre-installed thin wire isn't actually suitable for much serious cable pulling, so it is often used as a 'starter' to first pull through the proper cable pull, which is then in turn used to pull the actual final cables.

So I believe that's where the 'amorce' idea comes in.

I agree with the technical bit explained by Chris, that's how it's done. I found the term "wire puller" here http://www.cableorganizer.com/cable-puller/. I am not too sure what to do with "amorce", though.

Here in France wiring is laid in plastic sheaths by passing through a thin, but relatively rigid, plastic-coated steel wire first. This invariably has a loop on the end to make it easier to get round bends. I think this is a bit long to call a "tail", but I have always just called them "wire-pulls". Some people might call them "pull-throughs". On the other hand "amorce" implies that the part in question may actually be quite short. "Starter tail" ?
