agree  Philippa Smith: Yes, best to use "degree". But I'd just say "obtained his xx degree" 'cos it sounds like the "bien" is just "he did manage to", and "valider" = "pass" in this context.

disagree  Eliza Hall: Valider doesn't mean doing well. With diplomas it either means confirming (providing proof that you earned it) or just obtaining/having/graduating with it. And why not just say bachelor's degree? "Degree" alone could mean master's, etc.
