French term or phrase: Contrepartie notifiée
Hello all,
This is another entry from a financial statement. It comes in the AUTRES CREANCES section. Am doing it in Memoq so it is possible that Effets de commerce is the next entry, but both are in the same segment. Is it something to do with compensation? Thanks for any help.

Explanation:
I think that the two expressions (Contrepartie notifiée et Effets de commerce) are not closely linked in any way and you probably have a complicated file at the start like Excel where you don't even know if it has been imported reading down the columns or across the rows.
So unless you have the original file, I'd just translate this literally.

I guess it could also be "compensation notified" or "offset notified" depending on what "contrepartie" refers to (maybe not a person but something else)

Asker: Thanks. And for voters for non-pro, I obviously translated it as counterparty notified to begin with, but couldn't see its relevance to the context. There is apparently something called a contra account / compte de contrepartie but I can't see that being relevant either.

disagree  Libby Cohen: Given that this is on a financial statement, not a legal contract context, I think we are straying from the intended financial/accounting intention, and that the word "consideration" should be in there, NOT "counterpart(y)".

Explanation:
I seem to find the phrase "(chargeable) consideration notified" predominantly on UK and Scottish sites, in connection with the sale of land and buildings. See Revenue Scotland and Registers of Scotland; also The Crown Estate Transfer Scheme. I think the "notified" just means the "declared" consideration (value) of such land/buildings, but don't quote me on that.

I should add that "consideration" is a term commonly used in Canada for the French "contrepartie" when it comes to tax and accounting, on balance sheets.
