French term or phrase: cible recherchée
Hi,

I'm translating a short text entitled: "DETECTION ET MESURE DE L'ACTIVITE REVERSE TRANSCRIPTASE (RT)"

The prodecure aims to "détecter la présence d'un rétrovirus dans les surnageants de culture cellulaire".

At the end of the document, there is a table summarising the differences between various versions of this document (document history). It shows the differences in the controls used, the technique used and the volume tested.

In one version the "témoins" used are "selon les échantillons testés"; in another version, the "témoins" used are "selon la cible recherchée"

Can anyone help with a succinct way of expressing "selon la cible recherchée" here please?

Many thanks in advance.

English translation:target
Explanation:
I think in this particular instance, there is little need to translate "recherchée" and that "target" alone is enough.

So, "depending on the target".
