Science - Biology (-tech,-chem,micro-)
French term or phrase: la nappe cellulaire
Context: determination of the sub-cytotoxic concentration of a product. A mixture of virus and product is tested on a Sephadex gel column. I'm hoping this will be really easy for a biologist. I'm not sure of what I've found.
E.g.
- Après 3 à 5 jours d'incubation, l'altération de la nappe cellulaire est observée au microscope.
- nappe cellulaire intacte;

(cell) monolayer
Explanation:
Hi Karen, I'm not sure without seeing more, and not sure where the sephadex fits in, but it sounds like a monolayer culture eg http://www.rocw.raifoundation.org/biotechnology/MScBioinform...

the cell wall

Explanation:
"nappe" = cover; the cover of a cell is the cell wall, so I'm pretty sure "the cell wall" is the accepted biological term.
