French term or phrase: coupe synthétique urbaine
I'm working on a document about accessibility as relates to disability, and I've come across the term "coupe urbaine" a few times. Not quite sure how to translate it, here is an example sentence, talking about a student workshop on the subject:

"Chaque groupe s’étant attaché à développer son analyse dans le cadre d’une typologie particulière de ville a ensuite construit sa propre **« coupe urbaine »** schématisant les interactions constatées dans l’échantillon observé. Certains étudiants ont prolongé l’atelier par un stage dans le cadre duquel ils ont proposé une **coupe urbaine synthétique*** qui généralise les enseignements de l’expérience xxxx pour une ville générique standard, avec ses quartiers médiévaux, haussmanniens ou modernes".

I'm guessing there is some kind of equivalent urban planning term, I just can't quite figure out what it is. something along the lines of 'cross-section' perhaps!

The same doc also mentions "traits de coupe," which may or not be the same "coupe" as the mentioned above:

"Ces frontières sont autant de ** traits de coupe** dans l’espace ou dans les organisations qui, par essence, vont à l’encontre de la dimension transversale des questions d’accessibilité.
Prenons un exemple simple pour illustrer le propos. La frontière entre le trottoir et un commerce se situe au niveau du pas de porte. Ce dernier se caractérise souvent par une rupture de niveau occasionnant la création d’une marche. Or cette dénivellation est située en plan sur le **trait de coupe** du cadastre, à la frontière exacte des deux domaines de compétences. L’obstacle se situe en quelque sorte dans un no man’s land, ce qui pose plusieurs interrogations ."

I translated this as "boundary lines," would appreciate if anyone can confirm this! Just not sure that "urban boundary lines" works for the first term of not...
