Ik zou het vertalen met "in de root van C:"

De root is de hoofddirectory waarin je alle mappen ziet staan. Wikipedia noemt het ook rootdirectory (dus één woord).

Computerwoorden.nl noemt het root directory, twee woorden dus op z'n Engels. Denk dat er geen officiële spelling voor is.
