swearword Explanation: It is very hard to say what she meant, but 'verdomme' (with double 'm'; with one 'm' the word does not exist) is a swearword meaning 'damn(ed)' We sometimes use it in dialect to emphasise what we are saying, and in that case it can be positive ('verdomme, dat is lekker'); but most of the time, it is negative. Hope you understand more or less what it means now, but you will have to derive the positive/negative meaning from the context. Gert |
