كیش and كشیش 11:53 Sep 14, 2010
Many, many thanks for such a helpful and prompt response. This is most interesting as one of my greatest interests in life is the language of spirituality.
Perhaps the Iranian Church has at last found a Persian word for the way we follow. You've probably picked up on the fact that I, like many other followers of Jesus Christ, am unhappy with the word ‘religion’ as Jesus came to offer us relationship, not religion.
Of course, I have every respect for all religions, precisely because of the fact of this total difference: if our cars are different my car may be in competition with your car (and we may disagree about who has the better car), but (purely as an example) my thoughts won't be in competition with your car as a thought and a car are two completely different things.
But can I just check: is كیش a word of Persian origin? Is it connected with كشیش?
All the best, and many thanks again,
