از آن روست is because Explanation: از + آن + رو + است That he/she is so kind is because his/her sins have been forgiven. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 12 mins (2010-08-10 07:45:44 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- The word رو or روی literally means face but can also mean an aspect of something; so, when we say این مسئله از آن رو است we literally mean "one aspect of this issue is". The pronunciation: az aan roost > از آن روست az aan roo ast > از آن رو است We rarely use the latter and we tend to drop the ا in است when preceded by vowels, I think. Examples: او است = اوست خدا است = خداست |
