Persian (Farsi) term or phrase: حیات داران
Greetings,

Actually حیات داران is written without any spaces in the original text, but the ت and the د are not joined together. Unfortunately my system won't allow me to reproduce this faithfully. (Does anyone by any chance know how to do this?)

حیات داران is most intriguing – is it how you form the plural of names (in this case حیات)? The English version has " My family was known throughout India (and Pakistan) as the Hayats of Wah."

اینجا واه بود، اینجا خانۀ من بود، و بعر از همۀ این تفاصیل مأمن و مأوای من بود، جایی که هفتصد سال پیس نواب محمود حیات خان سالار و حکنران ملاک، در آن میزیست. ما از نوادگان درجه یک او بودیم و خانوادۀ من در سرتاسر هندوستان به حیات داران واه معروف بودند

Please allow me to remind you once more that Vāh is a place in Pakistan, and the writer was a member of the Pakistani aristocratic class.

All the best, and many thanks,

Simon

The Hayatis (a family name)
Explanation:
This was where Nawab Muhammad Hayat Khan, a feudal landowner awarded "The Star of India" by the British had lived a hundred years or so ago. My family was known throughout India and Pakistan as the Hayats of Wah.".

As understood through your above-mentioned lines I think you should translate it "hayatis" meaning "Nawab Muhammad Hayat Khan" family members. This is family name which is been translated as "hayatdaraan"(حیات داران) which is meaningless in persian without no record in persian dictionaries.

Here حیات داران or anything like that is absolutely wrong.Anyone who translated it this way , has not grasped the meaning of the whole sentence.

large landowners

Explanation:
حیات داران could be a synonym for ملاکین which means people with a lot of properties (lands).

حیات دار means "large landowner" in this context and حیات داران is the plural form which is obtained by adding ان
