I think it relates to assessment and evaluation done for a system,IF THIS IS THE CASE, in Farsi we use "عدددادن" for "weigh"
it is a very common jargon in evaluation and assessment
if this is the case, assigning number is incorrect, it is only aliteral translation
you can google and find numerous instances on the assessment and evaluation this is what in research methodology called quantification.
