English term or phrase: Lucia
There’s a traditional “Lucia procession” that sings songs about the approaching Christmas. The procession contains “choir girls”, “gnomes”, “gingerbread men”, “star boys”, and Lucia herself, of course. Sometimes there can even be multiple Lucias in the same procession.

Are Lucia statues used during this celebrations, or there are some real persons who acts as Lucia?

girl or statue depending on the country
Explanation:
You don't say which country this is. Context is vital.

in Nordic countries e.g. Sweden and in Sweish communities elsewhere a girl acts the role of Lucia or St Lucy with a wreath of candle on her head with other girls also dressed in white and carrying candles folllowing her

In Italy and some other countries or villages St Lucy/Lucia is represented by a statue paraded through the streets

lucia
real persons who act as Lucia

Explanation:

Competing to be Lucia

Competition for the role of Lucia can be tough. Each year, a national Lucia is proclaimed in one or other of the TV channels, while every town and village worth the name chooses its own Lucia. Candidates are presented in the local newspaper a couple of weeks in advance.

agree  Agneta Pallinder: Masoud's text is definitely Nordic - choir girls, gnomes, gingerbread men and star boys are tärnor, tomtar, pepparkaksgubbar and stjärngossar - as in a typical Swedish Lucia procession.

agree  Anna Herbst: It is clearly the Swedish tradition that is described, so it can only be a real live person dressed in white with candles in a crown on her head.
