English term or phrase: focused processes
Hi,
I find it difficult to understand the phrase "focused processes of various neural firing patterns" in the passage below. The quotation at the beginning is from Altered traits by Goleman and Davidson. The "integrative information view" refers to Tononi's hypothesis on the origin of consciousness and the last part of the sentence refers to a theory by Michael Graziano, according to whom awareness is a model of attention: it is this last part, especially the one between asteriks, that is a bit obscure to me…
Thank you so much for any hint!

*****
(quotation from Altered Traits)
“You also elicit a short-lived gamma wave when, for instance, you imagine biting into a ripe, juicy peach and your brain draws together memories stored in different regions of the occipital, temporal, somatosensory, insular, and olfactory cortices to suddenly mesh the sight, smells, taste, feel, and sound into a single experience. For that quick moment the gamma waves from each of these cortical regions oscillate in perfect synchrony.”

This is consistent with the integrative information view and might also correlate with a way in which attention is being modeled on *** the focused processes of various neural firing patterns *** involved at that moment in recalling the peach within awareness.

Selected answer:Many different kinds of brain processes aiming for a single result
Explanation:
It's like the example of the text, many parts of the brain have to work in a certain way to be able to deliver a single and unique sensation like the taste or feel of a peach.

Haha it's ok, I believe it's a bit of both, focused attention aiming for a single result.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you, Vinicius, for your help! I don't quite understand, though, the meaning of "focused processes": does it refer to "focusing attention" or something else?

Asker: or maybe "focused" in the sense of "aiming at the same result"?

Asker: I have to apologize, Vinicius: (I'm a bit tired...): you've said it already in your answer...
