bang put on paper towels Explanation: If you bang on some clothes, you put them on in a quick and possibly erratic mannar. I am not sure as to why someone is putting on paper towels. Could you give any more context? -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 26 mins (2004-11-23 19:54:10 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- with the information you have provided,: here is a pure guess. The urine is probably collected in some sort of a container, then paper towels are put in the container to soak up the urine to use for testing. Good luck :-) |

bang OK, I think I have you .... Explanation: OK, since they're using multi-channel pipettes, this must be a multiwell plate. The standar way of cleaning these is to turn then upside down and 'bang' the plate on a couple of paper towels. This is because the wells are small and the liquid tends to stay in them. So, in this way you can remove whatever it is that is inside before adding a wash buffer so that that the wash is more effective (most contaminating liquid has been removed from the wells by banging them down on a paper towel). The papaer towel is not important (some have been known to just 'flick' the contents out into the sink, or on the floor!). HTH |
