possibility Explanation: SPIN SPIN puts Information on your desktop. The campus is now connected to InfoEd's Sponsored Programs Information Network (SPIN) database. Through this Web site, you can search and view the Commerce Business Daily and the Federal Register. You can also complete a SPIN profile and have funding opportunities mailed to your email address. The centerpiece of the SPIN system is, however, their new SQL server database, which is a compilation of over 1,200 public and private funding agencies with 11,000 separate, up-to-the-minute funding opportunities. This database can be searched by keyword or can be browsed by discipline or sponsor. Reference: http://www.calstatela.edu/academic/orsp/Funding.htm |

another possibility Explanation: SPIN is a sales method: http://www.honestselling.com/articles/spin_selling.htm Similarly, I simply resist taking the spin out of the title SPIN Selling, by mentioning the "duh" moment I had when I realized how far Rackham had to stretch to create the SPIN acronym: S – Situation (ask questions until the prospect provides a simple, general description of the status quo) P – Problem (ask questions with the specific intent of guiding the prospect to the conclusion that he has the problem your products or services provide) I – Implication (ask questions until the prospect clearly and accurately describes the pain associated with the problems he now agrees he has) N – Need-Payoff (ask questions until the prospect has clearly and accurately described the result of solving the problem and determined the associated return on investment) |

Astrophysics or Nuclear Magnetic Resonance? Explanation: I hope this is moving towards the correct explanation. It would help if you specify the context and the equipment you are working with. In Astrophysics, a "spin profile" is the graph of how the energy output at certain frequencies change as a star spins. In nuclear magnetic resonance, which uses strong magnetic fields to alter the spin of electrons and molecular bonding, the "spin profile" is the graph of the energy released after the magnetic field is released and the electrons and bonds snap back to their original positions. In either case, one can save the profile to a file. Reference: http://lheawww.gsfc.nasa.gov/users/mukai/iphome/images/gkspi... |
