Law/Patents - Law: Contract(s) / Agreement
English term or phrase: release an agreement
"The Agreement may not be released, discharged, supplemented, interpreted, amended, varied or modified in any manner except by an instrument in writing signed by a duly authorised officer or representative of each of the Parties."

This is part of the Final Provisions. There is a clause on 'Termination', and 'cancellation' is used on another occasion. All synonyms? Including 'discharge'?

Thanks.

relinquish/waive an agreement
Explanation:
is how I'd understand this.

They are covering all their bases here

The agreement (or parts of it) are relinquished. In other words, there is no longer a requirement to fulfil the agreement or the parts released. It also means no subsequent legal action will be taken for any breach of contract (or parts) released

There could also be a "release agreement" stating the parts to be released or novation or rescission if changes are to be made

I think Daisy has given you a good definition of "discharge"=obligations fulfilled

So, in this case, no parts of this agreement may be released,... any manner except by an instrument in writing signed by a duly a

oops, missed part of the quote at end there so last line should be:

So, in this case, no parts of this agreement may be released,..."except by an instrument in writing signed by a duly authorised officer or representative of each of the Parties."

release from obligation to fulfil the contract or part released with no subsequent legal action

a "Release condition" might also be involved where a party can exit a contract or part of it if the other party doesn't fulfil their obligations

(whatever,) just do it properly

Explanation:
This basically means "whatever you want to do to the Agreement, howsoever it might be described, you can only do it by following due process."

"release" is just one of the possibilities for action.
