English term or phrase: to assume and favor oneself
Successful people believe in themselves. If you're going to be successful in creating the life of your dreams, you have to believe that you're capable of making it happen. And believing in yourself is a choice. Of the hundreds of successful people I interviewed thought my career, almost every one of them told me "I was not the most gifted. I was not the most talented person in my field, but I chose to believe anything was possible. I studied. I practiced and I worked harder than the others, and that's how I got to where I am. Successful people assume and favor themselves and act as if achieving their goals is completely possible.

have confidence in oneself

Explanation:
I don't think there's any definitive answer. "Assume and favour" makes no sense in my opinion. However, we can make an educated guess based on the context.
