Just a quick remark for those of you who love to vote non-Pro: this is a Pro question.

Non-PRO questions are those that can be answered by any bilingual person without the aid of a dictionary, as per

This question was asked in a bilingual forum and several translators who tried to answer this question couldn't tell for sure what the meaning was, so it is a Pro question, based on ProZ rules.

This is not about "it is easy for me". It's about being easy for any bilingual speaker. That's the definition of Pro x non-Pro.

Yes, Sheila, I think you are right. Most likely this is not a phrasal verb.

At first I was in doubt between

I stand to make mistakes
= I am likely to make mistakes
and
= I accept the possibility of making mistakes,

but most seem to agree with the first option.

I don't know the technical term for it but you need to think of it as 'stand + infinitive with "to" '. As an English trainer we talked of verb patterns. You know: I hate doing (-ing form of the verb); I'd like to do (infinitive with "to"); let someone do (bare infinitive)...

Actually I don't know if "stand to" behaves as a whole - maybe the thing is about "stand" by itself.
