You can die or you can be at the top of the food chain. You can cash in or you can run the table. You can be the victim or you can be the perpetrator.


As you see the first chapter of these sentences contains something contrary to second chapter. But I didn't get the meaning of "Run the table" because it seems synonym to "Cash in" which is take advantage of the situation if we considered "Run the table" as turning a position of disadvantage into one of advantage. So what do you think?

P.S: the three are related and said by the same person.

They might be used to mean the same thing. I might have chosen 'cash out' meaning take your money and leave the game.
'Run the table' means to win all along the way to garner a lot of money until everyone else 'cashes out' or is broke.

That is how I read it in the USA.

agree  Tony M: Yes, 'cash in' means 'give up and leave with whatever small winnings you may have', whereas as you say 'run the tables' means to carry on gambling to the bitter end and hopefully win big!

to keep listing opposing elements, you have to pair a "gambler" (the one that won once and got out of the game) with "the house" i.e. the casino that keeps winning again and again and again (except for rare minor blips).

so "to run the table" would be comparable to "to run the show" or "to run the business"

The ONLY way to "keep wining" driving all your opponents to exhaustion when it comes to casino games (any form of gambling) is to be "the house".

IOW you can get lucky once and get out of the game or you can be one running the show and wining all the time.
