3 +3 | replacement of the temporary fix by a permanent repair |

replacement of the temporary fix by a permanent repair Explanation: Having read the context, this is the only way I can make sense of "replacement". What is confusing, of course, is that if a broken or damaged part is repaired, it is not replaced; either the same element is repaired, or it is removed and a new one put in its place. So I think "replacement" must refer to replacing a temporary repair by a permanent one. Assuming this is what is meant, it is not very clearly expressed. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 41 mins (2012-03-30 09:31:08 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- It is just possible, I suppose, that "replacement" means that a damaged element is replaced, and the effect of this is a permanent repair of the whole machine. This could be what they mean by "replacement". |
