cctv vs. itv comment Explanation: CCTV literally (and traditionally) means non-broadcast television using dedicated, hard-wired circuits (thus closed-circuit). For many applications, it is now being replaced and/or complemented by network-based systems using webcams, because this avoids the need to install an (expensive) cable infrastructure. Whether 'CCTV'' can be used to refer to network-based systems is a good question. |
